Record gal

I go by Twinkie for short.  I am colored kind of like a Twinkie but I think I am sweeter than a real one.  I like to follow my foster mom around so I can make sure I get more than my fair share of the lovies in this house.  I live with a foster sister, 3 other greyhounds and a lab.  This is definitely the dog house.  I love chasing my canine friends around the back yard.  We can run really fast especially when we challenge each other.  I like them all and we get along very well.  I like kids and humans too.

I am a good girl and always potty outside.  I don’t bother anything I am not supposed to. I get plenty of time to take nice long naps when my mom and dad are at work.  However, when they come home I am there to greet them and make sure they don’t forget the lovies.  My foster mom told me I have a racing record at the Birmingham track.  I did my best but I am really enjoying retirement with all this time for napping and taking it easy.

Today we went to a meet & greet at Ella’s Run.  I had a lot of fun seeing all the other greyhounds and humans.  It was a long day for me so I took an extra long nap when we got home.  I didn’t even lay on one of the 9 dog beds in the house.  I laid down on the cool hardwood floors and crashed out.

Warming up as it's cooling down

Twinkie has had a great week - her personality has come out more and more.  She is bouncing around the yard more, running after her foster brother and playing with her ball.  She is a great snuggler too - the other night she curled up next to me for some love and attention - what a treat on a cold night.  That silky neck is a perfect hand warmer!

Whenever someone talks to her, she stands attentively and wags her tail.  She's very eager to please and when she's not quite sure what you want her to do she sits - like she's thinking, "well, humans always seem to be happy when I do this, so I'll try it!"  She loooves attention from anyone who wants to love on her and is a charmer.  She gets along perfectly with her foster brother.

I took some video of her from a recent walk - I will figure out how to get it on the site so that you can see this gorgeous girl in action.

Fall is so much fun!

Do you remember being a kid?...how much fun it was to tromp through piles of leaves in the fall?  Do you STILL like to jump in the gorgeous fall leaves?  Then THIS is the dog for you!!  Twinkle Toes LOVE LOVE LOVES the leaves!  She is hilarious to walk - she never gets tired of playing in the leaves.

She is so smart and is mastering her manners.  She quickly learned that counter surfing is not polite.  She always sits when it's time to eat or get a treat.  And as tempting as it is, she politely waits while her Foster Brother finishes his food, rather than jumping in and helping him get to the bottom of the bowl (he is SOO slow!).  She is allowed to each the kibble that he drops on the floor while she waits - she gets every one while she patiently waits for him.

All the walking and manners and learning are exhausting though...so regular napping is a big part of each day.  Twinkie has really won over her foster brother - he lets her share his favorite bed, something he's never done before!  She's a real charmer - everyone falls for this adorable girl!!

Busy girl!

It's already been 13 days since Lady came to visit as a foster dog...and what a busy time it's been!  The first thing that you fall in love with is how soft Twinkle Toes is.  A friend said, "her neck is made of silk!!" and they're right you just can't help but love on her soft fuzzy neck.

She loves to explore, to play with toys, and to be around people.  She's smaller than my hound, so it always surprises me when she can walk under a desk or table to pop her head out and say hello!

She is learning 'home life' so quickly!  She is good on the stairs.  She is learning good manners around "people food".  She's a sweet and smart little lady.

She had her first Meet & Greet at the Jonquil festival last weekend.  She was charming and loved all the attention.  She's very blonde, which really makes her dark eyes stand out...everyone comments on how gorgeous she is!

She LOVES to go on walks.  You can almost hear what she's thinking..."everything is so new and exciting!!!"  She loves to sniff and explore.  Her ears are up, attentive and flopping around adorably the whole time.

Twinkle Toes is learning how to live the relaxed life of a retired greyhound.  She likes to fluff up her blanket so it's just the way she wants it.  Then she lies down and tucks her nose under the covers...very cute!

Training Update 100911

Twinkletoes is still helping out with the new training prospects and of coarse everyone wants her with them on the obstacle course. This girl is so precise and good with her commands that she makes all the candidates look good. She loves to go to volleyball  practice as she gets to play and lay in the sand. Dorm playtime is fun also as she takes off with a toy and her trainer has to track her down (such a playful pup).

Twinkle loves to play off leash with the other greys but sometimes can be a bit feisty, after all she is still the Diva! Everyone loves her and she's going to be truly missed because most people know her by sight. Her trainer says she's truly ready for her forever home. She loves to explore and discover new things so if you want a true beauty who sometimes can have an attitude (but in a good way) then she's your girl!
