A Family for Truman

Guess who I met at "The Good Dog Company" in Kennesaw Saturday morning at our latest M&G.  A really nice young couple from Charlotte,NC came to meet me. His parents came along with them. Not just potential new parents, but grandparents,as well. They hinted that I would be good practice for other future grandchildren.  Mom P told me grandparents are like that. Never quite satisfied with just us  4 legged  kids. She and  new Grammy bonded over both having sore eyes that day.  My older sibling will be of the feline persuasion. I hope it likes to play!   We hung out together for a couple of hours  It went very well. Did I mention they are  really nice?

They are in the process of buying a house.  Since I'm too big to be allowed in the Condo where they live now, my adoption will be delayed until they move.  Guess that gives me a week or two to say my farewells, so, to get started,  "Bye, Guys"

Wish me luck

Meeting and Greeting again next Saturday in Kennesaw. Some people with excellent taste are coming all the way from NC to meet me in particular. Mom P is having minor eye surgery a couple of days before, but promises to get me there even if she has to hide a black eye behind big dark glasses. Gee, NC is a whole state north. I wonder if its any cooler up there. I'm always on good behavior, but next weekend calls for my very BEST!

Check back here to find out how it goes.

Meeting and Greeting all weekend

I'd say this M&G stuff is pretty cool, but it was SO hot!   Saturday, at 93 degees,  we spent the afternoon at a pet store named Hot Dogs (yes, we were) and Cool Cats.  Our hostess was very nice. She put out lots of snacks and drinks for canines and humans alike. She also invited us inside where it was cooler, but quarters were a bit tight for the half dozen or so big dogs. Fun shopping, though, and a few got free nail trims.  Mom Pat left me for a bit to run a few doors down to buy some chicken salad to take home.  She had some for supper, but didn't share. How tacky! I did get a taste at the store, and it was really yummy.

Sunday seemed just as hot, but it was at an outdoor restaurant, and there were even more people and dogs.  Our waitresses put out lots of water bowls and even a big pan of icewater when they saw some of us hounds were standing in bowls. At least, tempting as it was,  nobody went body surfing in the goldfish pond!  Yes, it was steamy, but lots of fun. Mom P even introduced me to one of her previous foster sons. Would you believe Samuel Remington Thilenius?  Now that's a mouthful.  Luckily, he answers to Remi.

One lady who's considering adopting one of us guys came to meet  Chance, aka John Doe. She had already met  Hal and me  the day before.  Chance has an impressive track record, Hal is striking in black and white, but , if I do say so myself, I'm the biggest, handsomest,  and the best.  Mz Patti has the chore of deciding who's the best match of hounds and humans.  As if that weren't tough enough, Mom P accidently walked away with her sunglasses leaving her to squint madly on her drive home.  Yes, we are mailing them back to her tomorrow.  Can we do this again on a cooler day?

Some good news & bad news

The good news first: This past week's highlight was the "kid test".  Bradley(age 5), Macy(age 4) and Aiden(age 2) all came to visit from across the street where they wwere visiting their great grandmother.  I can add child tolerant to the cats and small dogs on my resume.  I'd say more than tolerant. What fun to be eye to eye with little people! And they're so huggy!

The bad news: An earlier blog accused me of being a toy thief. My time in the pokey did not see me rehabilitated.  Mom Pat says she doesn't object to the toy theft so much. She just wishes I was more discriminating about what's a toy vs whats a shoe or clean laundry in a hamper.  She does say I get "good boy"  points for not chewing things up like a puppy would.

Did you see Wednesday,  the latest dog on the available list?  Isn't she sweet? Abby was supposed to be my new sister, but she lost her dad just before I got sprung from the big house. Now we are both looking for new homes.  Mom P says she seems to share my adorable flip-floppy ears, and that should help us attract  new families.  Like the "Touch of Grey" commercials, I have more energy, but she has more experience! Still, we are both more than a touch grey. 'Scuze the pun.

A long long ride

Boy, I was glad to get out of that car and back on my own 4 feet. Just got to walk around for a few minutes, and was told to "jump" into another little car.  A much shorter ride that time. As soon as we got out of that car, my foster mom grabbed a bowl and put water in it for me, then dashed inside .  Two shaggy dogs were on the porch barking out the screen door at me.  A few minutes later, Mom Pat was back with a supper bowl.  Things were quiet, so I think those other guys were eating supper, too.  After eating, I got walked into a fenced yard where I could investigate and take care of business.  YEAH, there's a wading pool.  After a couple of minutes, Mom brought in the bigger of the other dogs. She introduced him as Maks.  He's an older gentleman, and pretty cool. After a couple of sniffs, he wandered away and left me to explore.  That other dog was watching through the fence and was a lot more excited.  Finally, Mom Pat let him in to join us. He ran right to me and became a pest, sniffing and nose poking. He's Kahn : about my age and about as much smaller than me as Mr. Maks is bigger.  He will probably be fun later, but I had a tough day, and was in no mood to play.  Luckily a quick growl or two convinced him to save it for later.  He keeps running up the stairs and going in and out of the house. I have to figure out how that works. Mom Pat and Mr Maks went in about dark and haven't come back out;  although she keeps opening the door and calling me.  Should I go up those stairs and see what's going on?

Mom Pat finally came with a leash and led me up the stairs and in the house. More exploring. I hope that silly Kahn or Mr. Maks will show me the secret of letting myself in and out.  That should be cool, but Kahn already showed me this nifty dog bed that looks like a sofa.  Mom Pat says it is a futon, and an OK place for dogs, so I think I'll take a nap.  Doggie doors later.
