Legend is Back
Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 7:48AM Legend is coming back to Second Chance Greyhounds to be rehomed due to financial hardship for his previous owner. He is a handsome one, for sure. We don't anticipate having him for very long!

Friday, December 10, 2010 at 12:27PM Legend's inmate handler has determined that he will bond quickly with the one who feeds him. And he will be forever loyal to that person. While in prison, he has shown some fear of very large men, however, once he gets to know the person, he has been fine with them (his trainer at the track did not experience this - he was always a happy dog while there).
His handler says he must learn to trust those around him. She is working with him on this by introducing him to various people at the prison and allowing them to walk him on lead. He is doing well with this exercise. The key to his heart, she says, is to be patient with him and show him love. He will soon realize he can trust and then his tail will wag wildly and he'll be all yours.
Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 8:34AM Legend was an absolute blast this past week. He did his commands without his blanket under him. He knows all of his commands and does them well. Legend is a very happy dog, and he loves to roam the dorm.
He is just a little Leary of the guards and strangers, but once he gets to know you, he will let you horseplay or do anything to him. His trainer calls him a mama's boy because he bonded with her so quickly.
At the weekend switch, Legend did very well. The new trainer says that he is very trainable and sweet, and she really enjoyed him.
Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 9:20AM Legend has shown progress this week with his training. But since he has become so attached to his handler, they are letting him stay overnight with other trainers to prevent any separation anxiety later.
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 8:41PM Raider Sammy, nka "Legend" has had a very good week. He is doing excellent with "wait" and is doing great with heel. He will "sit" but prefers a bed or blanket, or even the grass, to the floor.
Legend bonded quickly with his trainer and loves to follow her around. He spent the night in another dorm and did well. He didn't show any signs of separation anxiety.
