Robbie is Coming Back

Through no fault of his own, dear sweet Robbie is being returned to Second Chance Greyhounds to be rehomed.  His current Mom is going to school by day and working by night and felt she could not provide Robbie with enough attention and time.

He will go into a foster home so be watching his blog for pictures and updates.

In the Foster Home

One word can be used to describe Robbie - WOW!   This sweet boy is all that & a bag of chips. The first few nights found him a little uncertain what being in a house is all about but his confident attitude and sense of adventure keep him from being timid. He’s fascinated with that handsome fellow in the mirror. I often find him there, wagging his tail at his reflection. He’s discovered the basket of dog toys & joyfully pulls out every single one of them to add his own stamp of decor to the room. We had a blast playing last night. He pulled out every toy & I worked at tossing them back into the basket. He couldn’t stand to see them tucked away & would pull them out as quickly as I could toss them back into their proper place. He’s not destructive with them so I have no worries about him playing too rough.

He loves being with his people & silently follows me around as I do chores. He LOVES to go for a walk. He’s a gentleman on the leash & doesn’t pull unless there is something that needs investigating (he does have an enquiring mind).

He’s knows his commands & is very eager to please. He’s very smart so he learned counter surfing 101 the first night but has not tried to reach anything since getting a firm ‘NO’ on the first attempt.  He’s eating well, taking treats & getting along with my hounds. He’s a little shy with unknown people & other exuberant dogs but some socializing will fix that.

Training Update 080311

Going from the secluded, inquiring boy on arrival Robin, is now graduating as a confident, outgoing, loving dog. School is over, he knows all his commands and responds immediately to them. Robin has learned many lessons including socializing, what life is off the track, and that playtime is fun. He and his trainer truly bonded and she just wants whom ever gets him to know they are getting the most loving, playful, confident and loyal dog she has ever trained. So Robin good luck on your future journey!

Training Update - 072511

Robin is doing beautifully!  His trainer says he is quite the character.  He is such huge love bug.  He especially loves his back scratched!  Maybe he thinks he’s a cat!  She says it’s really hard not to get too attached to this little gentleman.  He's just so wonderful!

Robin does his commands perfectly.  One day this week his trainer was in the middle of practice on his commands. They had been going over each one.  When they came to the down command,  Robin decided to play dead.  It was so cute she couldn’t help laughing at him.  He must have thought that he had done all of his commands and it was time to be finished!  So funny!

With only one more week to enjoy Robin, his trainer is sad that he will be leaving soon.  She knows he will be happy in his new home. She hopes he will have lots of space to run and explore.  He loves the outdoors and nature in general.  Soon he will be able to roll in the grass at his own home!  That makes her happy!  But she will still miss him terribly.

Training Update 071811

What do dog field, purple rubber chicken and water puddles have in common? Robin on Saturday in the rain running after that purple chicken, now does that sound like fun or what! Now the thunder took a bit of getting used to but after a bit no problem.

He's doing the fun commands now and can "Shake" but "Lap" is a bit more difficult but he's working hard on it. For all his hard work he got a new squeaky toy that he loves to chase and chew on, way to go Robin.
