One Impressive Lady!

This week has been bittersweet for Lady’s inmate trainer.  He has let his secondary and alternate trainers take the reins with Lady and he can tell it’s going to be hard to say goodbye to this sweet girl.  Lady is doing wonderful and continues to improve on her “sit” and “down -stay” commands.  Her inmate trainer says that it has been fun watching Lady’s progress and he’s proud to be a part of her journey.

Just to let you know how smart Lady is here’s a list of her extra commands (you may want to sit down for this):

Paws-up
Lights
Back
Shake
Circle
Spin
Bow
Dance
Belly
Kiss
Off
Move
Leave it
Give
Drop
Lap
Sit Pretty
Find it

As you can see, she is quite talented.  Her new family is going to adore her!

Gentle and Smart

Swap week has arrived and Lady spent her week with an alternate inmate trainer.  He says that Lady is a very well-mannered girl and that her primary trainer has done an outstanding job with her!  She is a shy girl, but did a great job performing every command given!  She performed her extra commands flawlessly as well!  Lady is a very smart girl who can get a little shy if someone approaches too quickly.

Her alternate handler says that Lady is a sweet and gentle girl who is going to make an excellent addition to some lucky family.

Showing Improvement

Lady is doing a wonderful job with all of her basic commands!  She is also doing much better with her commands in front of crowds.  She proved this by doing a great job on her training test in front of the SCG team and other inmates!

Before meals she politely holds a “sit-stay” before being released to her kennel to eat.  She is showing great improvement with her new extra commands; shake, lights on/off, back, drop-it, give-it, sit pretty, kiss, and belly. Her inmate trainer says that she enjoys being around everyone on the training team and in the dorm!

Learning to Dance

Lady has had a great week!  She is catching on to her new commands quickly.  Her inmate trainers have been working on shake, lights, circle, spin, belly, off, kiss, move, and dance!  Her trainer says that she is learning faster with each new command and that she’s so much fun to train!

She’s starting to play a little more enthusiastically with toys so this will allow her inmate trainer to start working on the give it and drop it commands next week.  She already knows all of her basic commands really well!  She’s performing hurry, let’s go, kennel, release, wait, heel, here, sit, down, stay, bed, and jump like a pro!  At this rate they may have her reading books before graduation!

Playing and Training

Lady is doing great picking up on all of her basic commands.  Throughout the week she has become faster in her response time with each of her commands!

Her inmate trainer says that Lady has become more active in the yard running and playing with the other dogs.  He says that she does get distracted easily but gets back on track really well. She does great with staying in her kennel until she’s told she can come out.  She’s starting to show interest in toys and rolling the ball around.

This week they did a little stair training and she was a little unsure at first, but picked it up quickly!  She’s also picking up on spin, circle, back, heel, and kiss!

Quick Study

This week has been great!  Lady is getting quicker responding to the basic commands.  Her "heel" is getting much better.  She learned the "jump" command this week as well.  She can jump on the metal benches on the big yard as well as over them.

This next week they will concentrate on increasing the response time for the basic commands.  Lady is doing fabulous and is learning at such a quick pace.  She is extraordinary!

Training Continues

This week they've been working very hard on their basic commands.  Lady has learned quite a bit!  Tuesday she did her first "paws up".  That then turned into a "jump".  She has also learned "off".  "Sit" is one command is that is difficult for them but on Friday she sat on her own!  Whoo hoo!!  A party ensued!

Now that the connection has been made for her with the verbal command and hand signal, she sits on a dime now!  She is getting better with the "down" command as well.  Her "stay" is coming along.  They are working on "here" which is also difficult but she is slowly overcoming distractions and distances.  Her inmate trainer can call her from 10-15 feet and she will come.  He has begun working on the "heel" command.

Overall, she has learned quite a bit in the last few weeks.  She is still the sweetest dog she has worked with.  He has not observed any aggressiveness with her as it relates to humans or hounds.  She isn't too interested in toys yet but that can change at any time.

She's a joy to work with!

Sweet and Fun

This week Lady has been working on the sit, bed, down, here, wait, and stay commands.  She is catching on to the sit command and her inmate trainer believes that she’ll be sitting on her own soon!  She’s really good at performing down with a treat reward.  She’s getting better with the here command at short distances!  Her inmate trainer plans to start working on the here command from longer distances soon.  She walks beautifully on the leash and is doing great with the wait command!

Her inmate trainer has started working on stay from the bed and standing.  So far she hasn’t gotten excited about anything except running in the big yard.  Her inmate trainer says that he is having fun with Lady and believes that she is going to be a wonderful couch potato for some lucky family.

Lady Reporting For Training

Lady has been in the prison training program for three days now and she’s already responding to her name!  She knows the “kennel” command and understands that she is not to come out until called.  What a smart girl!

When Lady first arrived at the prison she was unsure of what to do or how to act, but she quickly warmed up and started adjusting to her new environment!  Her inmate trainer believes that they will have a lot of fun!  So far she is not motivated by treats, but her inmate trainer plans to try some peanut butter and kibble to sweeten the deal.

Lady is also catching on to the “hurry” command and knows the “wait” command really well.  Her trainer says she is great on the leash with no pulling at all!  She loves to be brushed and enjoys having her teeth brushed, except the front ones but she allows them to be brushed with no problems.

Her inmate trainer says that Lady is a beautiful, smart, and sweet girl who is guaranteed to capture the hearts of everyone around her.
