Off to Gainesville

Mr Samuel Remington Thilenius has relocated as of Valentine's Day.  Adoption day was fun what with meeting his new family at PetSmart for a shopping trip. Two other hounds(Crenshaw Delta/Cha-Chi & Star Bright/Miley)  were there, too; so that made for a regular party. Miley is a pretty girl so Sammy& Chach were vying for her attention.

New mom,Michelle,  reports that Sammy/Remi is already fitting in and doing well. He is their first greyhound, but is racking up brownie points for the breed. His older schnauzer brother  says"Humph" to that but admits the tall skinny dude is Aw-right for a youngster.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'm all about LOVE. Actually, I'm more excited about Valentine's Eve. We plan to attend our first Meet & Greet of the new year that afternoon.  I sure hope the weather doesn't mess us up this time. Just in case, I do have a new fleece lined blue raincoat.   Its at a Birdwatching Supply store. How cool is that?  I think watching birds is almost as much fun as watching squirrels and chipmunks. Too bad they fly too high and too fast to be catchable. There is one big hawk who sails sedately around, but when he perches in a tall tree near our yard, he watches us back. If I were a small dog, I might be nervous.

Guess what!I met my foster brothers' professional obedience trainer. Ms. Kathy had me show off and was impressed with how well I paid attention. She said that given a couple of weeks to work with me, we could earn an AKC title in our first attempt. Mom Pat said that for one thing, she was burned out on dog shows after spending two years getting one of her own rescue dogs titled to prove it could be done. For another thing, she said with my personality, I should find a forever home soon, and if my forever family was interested in doing the dog show bit; she'd gladly advise. She does think having a hound compete in obedience would be a fun way to bust up a stereotype of which breeds can do obedience and which can't . We have already made a start in that by earning our CGC's.

Snow Day

You may find this hard to believe, but for a little while earlier today there was odd fluffy white stuff falling from the sky. Sorta like rain, but slower and not really wet. Mom Pat said its called snow and is very rare around here. Sure enough, before I got a good look at it, it was all gone.  I couldn't pay much attention, anyway, because she was trying to wrestle me into a puffy silver vest at the time.  She says I'll like it, but I have my doubts. WHEW!  Got it on, but it feels strange when I move around. Its supposed to keep me warmer in this cold weather.  That might be worth it. My foster brothers love the cold, but they have wooly undercoats, so I need an overcoat to even things out when we go outside.  The last few days, vying for a spot in front of the fireplace has been more tempting than harassing the squirrels outdoors. Dashing from one to the other has been the best of all.. It did feel pretty good when we all went downstairs to make sure the basement door was closed up tight for the night. Mom promises to try to get and post a picture of me in my coat, although she's had little luck with that pix to computer stuff in times past.

Sammy bridges falling down.

Too bad nobody had a camera or a hand free to operate it: Ever noticed how we greyhounds like to walk over other dogs and they like to walk under us? They call ME a clown, but I was innocently standing crossways in front of Mom Pat when my big foster brother Maks(95 lbs of GSD/Malemute) decided to get to her by walking under me. He's only a little shorter, so I was suddenly teetering across his back, all feet off the floor. As if that wasn't wierd enough, other brother Kahn( a mere 65 pounder) decided to try to wedge himself under me,too as I dangled . Mom was laughing so hard, she had trouble unstacking us. She and a  couple of hundred pounds of dog wound up in a  in a pile in the living room floor. Luckily, we were on a nice soft rug.   She's been calling us  her Three Stooges  ever since.   We DO have fun times, but I'm hoping to get out to a Meet & Greet next weekend. Time to get back to the hunt for a forever home of my own. Know anybody who's needing a good laugh? I'm good at providing them.

New foster home

Sammy here. Scott brought me to meet my new foster mom and brothers. Having seen my picture, Mom Pat expected me to look a lot like her old foster son, Felix. I do have the same general appearance, but am a  considerably smaller version. I'm more playfull, too, and warmed up to playing with my new brothers  already even though they are pretty big and pretty loud.  I've only been here an hour or so and already learned to operate the dog door to go in and out as I please. Too Cool! Felix spent a month or so here, then found a great forever home. I'll be doing my best to follow in those pawprints, but I saw a lot of toys lying around as I investigated the house and yard,so this looks like a fun place to spend the Holidays.
