Leaving For A New Life

Dixie’s inmate trainer says that Dixie is an excellent dog.  She is playful and very sweet.  She learned her commands with ease in a very short time.  She’s loyal and you can see the intelligence in her eyes.

Her inmate trainer says that he’s very proud of the progress Dixie has made since her arrival at the prison.  He is confident that she is going to make an excellent pet and companion to her forever family.

Working Through Swap Week

Swap week time!  This is the week where the inmate trainers swap dogs to give them a chance to receive commands from new people and to allow them to spend time away from their primary inmate trainers.

Dixie met all the standards with flying colors!  Her alternate inmate trainer says that Dixie has a great personality in everything she does and gets along with both humans and dogs.  She enjoys chewing on her bone and toys.  She’s a loving girl with a great spirit!  Her alternate trainer says that it has been a pleasure working with her and he has no doubt that she’s going to steal her the hearts of her new family!

Holding Her Own

It was testing time this week to see how training is progressing and Dixie did great!  She followed through with all of her commands on the first try!

Dixie enjoys playing in the big yard with the other dogs.  There are a couple of other dogs that try to bully her around a bit, but handles them well and holds her own.  Dixie is a very happy and loving girl.  She’s friendly with everyone and her inmate trainer believes that she’s going to make her new forever family very happy!

Easy Going and Confident

Woo Hoo I got the pen so I, Dixie, am going to tell it like it is!  Here it is folks, you’re inside training scoop!

I have to say this new gig is going great!  My inmate trainer gives me treats and I follow through with the basic command thingy's.  I guess the biggest challenge I have is the “stay” command.  I really don’t have time to “stay” as there are important things I need to sniff.

I’m an easy going girl who’s friendly and confident.  My inmate trainer just mumbled that I’m a little too confident (insert full doggie eye roll) that’s just absurd a girl’s gotta be confident and besides who’s writing this me or him!  So anyway… I love treats and attention and belly rubs are a must!  I absolutely adore running outside in the big yard it’s truly fantabulous!  Perhaps I get a little excited about being outside and anticipate where we’re going so I pull a little on the leash, but I’m really just trying to get my inmate trainer to understand where we should be going… to the big yard to play!  I do enjoy my food and treats so I hope my forever family prepares for that. Well, I hope you check back next week to see what I’ve been up to I have no doubt that I’ll be good at whatever it is so you’ll not be disappointed.

You Got Treats? I Got Time!

For the past week Dixie has been staying busy.  Some of the other inmates in the dorm help with the commands to make sure she responds well to other people making requests.  She’s doing great!  She loves food so much that all they really had to do was show her the treat and she follows through like a pro!

Training is going great!  Her inmate trainer says that she understands and performs “stay” really well... that is until she decides to be a little stubborn about it.   She loves to play with the other dogs and hanging out with her human.   Her inmate trainer believes that Dixie is going to make some lucky family very happy!

Fun and Fancy

Dixie seems to do really well with everything she starts!  She seems to be handling the prison and all the changes that come with it really well. Dixie is excited all the time and when she goes out for her first morning break they play to help burn some of her energy off.  Her inmate trainer says that Dixie is hands down the most fun dog she’s ever been around.  Her excitement can make some things a little more challenging, but she picks up training really fast.  She’s a wonderful girl who’s full of love and bound to fill her forever home with happiness!

Hugs Please

Dixie had a great week!  Her inmate trainer is having a great time with this sweet girl!  He says that the more he gets to know her personality the more fun they have together.  She’s doing really well with her basic commands and knows “hurry,” “let’s go,” “kennel,” “heel,” “sit,” “down,” and “bed” really well!  “Release,” “wait,” “here,” and “stay” are works in progress, but she’ll get the hang of them in no time.

Dixie doesn’t mind being around the other inmates, staff, or Greyhounds.  She does well with hugs and grooming.  She’s a very friendly and playful girl.  Her inmate trainer believes that she’s going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family.

One Sweet Girl

Dixie has had a busy and productive week!  She can now “sit” and “down” on her own!  Her inmate trainer says that Dixie is an energetic girl who loves toys!  Despite her love for toys she doesn’t have any problems sharing.  The “stay” and “wait” commands are in the works and Dixie is beginning to understand these requests.  Her inmate trainer says that she’ll have these figured out in no time.

Dixie’s inmate trainer says that sweet girl is a joy to work with and he’s thankful for his time with her.

Learning the Ropes

Dixie is doing great!  She seems to be adjusting really well to the prison environment. So far, nothing seems to scare her.  She plays with a tennis ball, but hasn’t becomeexcited about any of the other toys yet.  It will come - all in good time!

Training is going well!  Dixie is treat motivated which helps with the training process. She tends to lose focus so her inmate trainer is working to keep training fun for her.   They’ve started working on the “sit” and “heel” commands.  Her trainer believes that she’ll have these figured out in no time!

Learning to Play

Dixie has arrived at the prison for basic training!  She’s adjusting really well to this new environment!  Her inmate trainer has been working on teaching her the kennel command, her name, and all about toys.  He spends some time in the yard rolling a ball to her and at first she was afraid of it but she warmed up and started grabbing it then running to him and dropping it! Sounds like fetch in the making!

Her inmate trainer is very happy to be working with Dixie and can’t wait to see what the future brings!
