Lola Likes Strawberries

This morning, as I do every morning, I doled out one strawberry to each of my girls as their "after breakfast" treat. I also gave one to Lola to see if she would eat it. She took it in her mouth, then dropped it, looked up at me, looked at Lucy munching on her strawberry and then decided (I think) that it was something she should eat. Heck, everyone else was eating it so why shouldn't she? She then picked it up and proceeded to the nearest dog bed where she then devoured it, stem and all. Nothing like a little roughage first thing in the morning! :)
I don't encourage feeding "people" food, however, fruits are very good for them and most Greyhounds will eat strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges, peaches, etc. . . . you get the idea. I've even dehydrated these fruits for my girls for treats. It's a much better alternative to dog biscuits which can add pounds to their sleek bodies. And unlike dog biscuits, it's a treat you can share with your dog!
I think tomorrow we will try a banana and see if Ms. Lola likes them. I am guessing she probably does since her trainer also fed bananas as treats during her kennel days. More later!!
Lola,
strawberries,
treats
