Precious Girl

The end of the training session is fast approaching with Becca.  Her trainer said she has really started showing more of her personality.  She is such a fun, loving girl and will be dearly missed at the prison.

Becca becomes so excited when it's time for her to eat, that when you give the command to heel as she exits her kennel, she will jump, turn while in the air, and land in a heeling position.  Such a silly girl!  Becca is very treat motivated and will give you undivided attention if you have a treat in your hand.  It has made training a cinch.  As much as Becca likes to play, she also likes to lounge around on the bed and take long naps.  She must be dreaming of her forever home.

Becca is incredibly curious and loves to meet new people.  She has never met a stranger.  This precious girl deserves only the best, and will fit into any family very well.  Be on the lookout for her adorable bunny ears and bursting personality!

Guess What Week It Is?

Swap week!  Becca spent the week with an alternate inmate trainer.  He says that she was a pleasure to be around.  She was comfortable and at ease all week.  She performed her commands with no problems.  She loves treats and will do most anything for a yummy treat reward!  She learns fast and many times may only need to be shown the trick a couple of times before understanding.

Becca’s temporary inmate trainer says that he believes that Becca’s new family is going to be very pleased with this sweet girl.

Pick Me!

Becca has been having so much fun outside.  She loves chasing a ball back and forth with the other dogs.  She played so long and hard that she was totally exhausted and very thirsty.  She was so thirsty that while lapping up the water, her entire nose was completely submersed in the water bowl!  Maybe she practicing to be the next bobbing for weenies champion at Greystock next year.  Who knows...

Commands are like second nature to this girl.  She knows all of her basic commands forwards and backwards.  She was taught some extra commands too, like "kisses", "show me love", "paws up" and "leave it".

Swap week is coming up and this means a whole new experience for Becca.  Her inmate trainer has spent the last 8 weeks with this sweet girl.  He knows with her independent, strong-willed attitude, she will excel during swap week, just as she has during all the prior ones with him.   It's no wonder her track name was KJO Sweetheart, because this precious girl fits the bill to a "T"!

Loving Outside Play

Becca and her inmate trainer have been spending a lot of time outside, now that the weather has cooled down.  She is definitely enjoying it.  She absolutely loves chasing a ball, but hasn't quite figured out how to bring it back for another throw.  When a ball is held up in front of her it is cute to see the concentration in her eyes.  Her ears flop forward and she puffs her cheeks out with every breath,  just waiting in anticipation for the throw.

Playtime has turned into Becca's reward for excelling with her training.  She knows all of her basic commands like the back of her paw, and is ready to show you.  Becca's a sweetheart who is going to steal your heart in no time...

Brown Eyed Beauty!

Becca has really started coming around to the idea that toys are a lot of fun to play with.  Until this week, Becca could care less about toys, but now...look out!  She enjoys chasing toys that the inmates throw back and forth.  This week while on the big yard, she got a hold of a ball.  She was whipping the ball back and forth.  When it came out of her mouth, it rolled right underneath one of the other Greyhounds.  Little Miss Becca didn't waste any time.  She followed the ball right under the dog and came out the other side unscathed!  She's quite the ball player.

Becca's internal clock let's her know when it's feeding time.  She will come tearing out of her kennel and do a jumping heel!  Her inmate trainer says it's the cutest thing to see her hop-n-twist all in one motion.

Becca has been a loving girl since day one, but is becoming more playful lately.  Becca is going to make a wonder addition to any family, regardless of the composition.  The lucky adopter of this pretty, brown eyed beauty will not be disappointed!

Attention Hound

It has been another fun week with a sweetheart of a Greyhound named Becca.  She will quickly perform all of her commands with verbal cues.  She knows most of them with hand cues too.  Becca is not shy and will gladly do her commands for anyone.  She is eager to please and certainly looks forward to her after training treats.

Becca does not object to other dogs or people being around her bed when she's on it.  She's a sucker for attention, and will calmly rest her head on your lap and look up at you with her big brown eyes, just waiting to be petted.  She LOVES attention.  This sweet girl will quickly and easily become your new best friend!

So Far, So Fast

Becca seems to be fitting right into the retirement life.  She looks forward to the daily big yard exercise breaks.  As soon as her trainer lets her off leash, she takes off in a run.  The other greyhounds seem to like chasing her around.  It must be their playground game on the big yard.

The other day a bird flying around on the big yard caught Becca's attention, and the hound came out in her.  She made a bee-line straight for it and she looked like a cat ready to pounce.  She wasn't quite quick enough and the bird flew away.

Show and tell was Friday, and Becca performed every command for her inmate trainer on the first try.  Good girl Becca!  They started on a new command this week. ("jump").  It only took a few tries for her to figure it out.  She has come so far, so fast!

Her inmate trainer wants to improve her recall while outside off leash.  She is a very curious girl and sometimes it takes a little bit of time to break her attention.  She is definitely improving though.

Becca is a sweetheart, just like her racing name.  If you are looking for a greyhound that loves hugs, kisses and endless petting, then look no further.  Becca is your girl!

Have Treats? Will Learn.

Becca is doing very well learning her basic commands. She knows "let's go", "wait", and "heel" well.  Her inmate trainer is excited to say she has overcome her reluctance to the "jump" command (with the help of her favorite treats of course).  This girl loves her treats and will do almost anything to earn that next bite.

Becca is getting more playful as time goes on.  She is starting to pick up and chase toys.  She also enjoys stretching her legs on the big yard.  Becca is also quite curious and would rather be sniffing around than laying on a bed.  Her inmate trainer said that he is very lucky to have such a sweet and loving greyhound to train.  She's such a joy and he knows he's going to miss her dearly.

Living Up To Her Race Name

This week training has continued with Becca with more "sits" and "downs".  She is building those muscles, so her "sits" are looking much better.  She is a quick learner so a little more repetition and she will have it in no time.  Her inmate trainer also worked on "hurry", "let's go", "kennel", "release" and "wait".  She knows "let's go" and "wait" well, but is slow to respond to the others, but it's early in the training and she is a smart girl.

As her inmate trainer mentioned last week, that Becca is a curious girl.  Outside she enjoys searching every bit of the area for anything of interest and will run with the other dogs without any problems.  Becca is coming out of her shell more every day, and her inmate trainer is loving the time he gets to spend with this sweet girl.  Her race name says it all, because she really is a sweetheart!

Confident And Ready To Learn

Becca came to the prison with her head held high and eyes open wide.  She was so confident and not suspicious of anything new.  In fact, her curiosity took over and she wanted to sniff and see everything.  Her first bath was a breeze and she allowed her trainer to clean her ears and clip her nails without so much as a twitch.

She has begun learning the first few commands like "wait", "heel" and "sit".  It's easy to see that this girl loves her treats, which is making training much easier and fun for both trainer and dog.

Becca's inmate trainer is so excited to see what lies ahead for this beautiful and loving greyhound.
