Meetin' and Greetin'

Last Saturday John participated in his first ever Meet and Greet.  I have to say he did an outstanding job meeting and greeting the public.  He seemed to really like children but then most Greyhounds do!  His only mishap was he stepped in the bowl of water (a few times) knocking it over, spilling water all over the sidewalk.  No biggie, it was so hot that it evaporated almost immediately.  I truly think he was trying to cool himself off.  He is pretty smart, that John Boy is!  On weekends when it's really hot outside and we're out for a potty break, he will step into the kiddie pool - again, I think to cool himself.  Smart boy!

Here is a picture of John sitting for a treat.  His sit is a lopsided one as he tends to sit on one hip.  Not all the time, mind you, but sometimes.  I also ask him to sit for his breakfast and dinner.  He politely obliges, every time!!

After the Meet and Greet, we headed next door to enjoy some wonderful pizza at a neighborhood pizzeria with outdoor seating.  Perfect, if you have Greyhounds in attendance!  John was very good as he laid on the dog bed by my feet.  One "down" command and he, again, politely obliged. He does know his commands which is nice.  My most favorite is "bed" which I use at night when it's time to go to sleep.  I can firmly say "bed" and then point to his bed and he'll lay down.  He stays there until the alarm goes off in the morning!!  Gotta love that!

Sunday we'll be at the Peachtree Road Race cheering on the runners - all 50,000+ of the them!!  We'll be at the corner of Peachtree and Peachtree Battle.  I expect I'll have more pictures to share after that and perhaps a video is in store for John.  He's quite comical as he gallops around the backyard and then polps himself into the kiddie pool!

If you're interested in meeting John, come out to the Road Race on Sunday.   We'll be there!

Interim Foster Home

I picked up John Doe yesterday from his previous foster home to take him to a Yappy Hour so he could meet a potential adopter.  He did very well, I might add, even as hot as it was!  Here are a few pictures from the event.  I'll try to get a few more throughout the week as he continues his stay with me for a few more days.  He is doing well with my other Greyhounds and even with Savannah, my Ragdoll cat.  He's definitely a very good boy!!

Chance (John Doe) is having a wonderful time at my farm. He has been very tolerant of the cats. He is a bit of a greyhound snob, but we are working on that.

Helen

Well....that is her take on it. I am having a wonderful time, with all this space, and grass. I love bouncing around the grass. Helen comes out to play with me, but I had to teach her I love to chase the ball. Seems she was remiss in reading my blog from prison. I have straigtened her out, though. Her favorite thing seems to be making sure I really know my obedience. Sometimes she can be sooo boring! I am working on her, though. Other than playing with the ball, I love her couch. It is so comfy. She is very trainable, so I am sure I will have a super time, while I am waiting for my forever home. You know, I am a lot more good looking than my picture shows!!! I am also extremely sweet!!!!!

Training Continues

John Doe (Chance) is a curious boy who loves to explore with his mouth.  He can pick anything up and carry it around.  Chance is lazy and content, and won't run with the rest of the dogs unless you throw a ball for him.  He hasn't learned the idea of bringing the ball back to his trainer yet, as he loves you to throw the ball, he pounces on it and then waits for you to come and get it.

He's doing great at all of his commands.  Currently he is working on "front" and he is getting the hang of it.  He also knows "out" to drop anything that he has in his mouth.

New Updates

John Doe (Chance) is sweet, cuddly, and an overall delight to be around.  He will get a bit playful when he wants to, as he enjoys chasing a ball more than anything right now.  He has a little bit of a naughty side as he has started to pull his dish out from under his trainer's bed and carry it around.

Chance is a really smart guy!  He has mastered sit, down and stay with and without hand signals.  He is picking up on heel and front commands quickly as well.  His trainer has taught him "kiss" to which he will nudge her cheek or chin with his nose when asked.
