Play time

Well!  Can you believe it is already February?

Not much new from me.  My foster Mom had to go on a business trip last month.  I stayed at a boarding Kennel.  The kennel only takes greyhounds; how's that for some kind of wonderful?  I really missed Floody and my foster Mom, but I did enjoy playing with all the other hounds.

We went to the dog park on Sunday afternoon.  It was packed with people and dogs!  We met up with Stetson, one of our greyhound friends.  I got to run and play and got my fair share of lovin' from all the people there.  My friend Sammi went with us.  She is a neighbor and comes over to visit every once in a while.

Do you know about Doggie Ice Cream?  Neither did I!  I think my foster Mom is holding out on me.  After the dog park we went to Bruester's.  Floody and I got our very on cup of ice cream; well its frozen yogurt but who cares?!  It even had a Milk Bone in the cup.  Let me tell you it was delicious!

We are out and about a little more now that stays lighter a little longer and it is warming up a bit.  I love the walks we take; expecially when I get to see our "bus stop buddies".

I am still looking for my Forever home.  My foster Mom & Floody love me very much but she wants me to have a home of my very own too!

Until the next update - I send you Roo's,

Happy 2012

Happy New Year everyone,

I had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you did too!  I received treats and a new sweater to keep me warm.  I must say, I'm stunning in my green sweater, so distinguished!  I'm sure my Foster Mom will post a picture, soon.

My Foster Mom's daughter and son-in-law came to visit.  We had so much fun.  I went for more walks and got a lot of extra attention with all those hands in the house!

We went on our car journey to visit my foster family, too!  My foster cousins still don't want to play but they didn't bark at me like before.  I stayed calm and let them take their time to 'meet & greet' me.

Even though I love my Foster Family; all I want for 2012 is a forever family of my very own.  After all, my Foster Mom needs to make room for a new hound.

I wish you all love and Roo's this new year!

From Indy's Foster Mom

Greetings everyone,

This is Indy's Foster Mom.  I thought I'd share a little about this sweet boy from my perspective.  I am looking forward to being your Greyt Friend.

He really is a sweet boy.  He loves to snuggle, but doesn't get on the furniture; hasn't even tried.  He'll burrow his head in your lap and relax so you can pet him.  He isn't much of a 'kisser' either but still very affectionate.

He is a playful boy.  He has a few toys, which he loves to throw around and shake.  I'm a little amazed that the stuffies haven't been torn to shreads, but they are still intact.  He has a gentle mouth, whether playing or taking a treat.

He is much loved by all of my neighbors and their children.  My big greyhound is gentle and laid back and doesn't do anything but stand or lay down.  Indy knows all of his commands and will sit just on a hand signal now.  I make him sit and wait for his breakfast and dinner and I don't even have to tell him, he's learned the routine.

He's adjusted beautifully to the routine of our home.  He's happy hanging out with Floody and me all day in my home office, sleeps until my alarm clock sounds in the moring, then is all vim and vigor and stands to wait for me to put his leash on him for our multiple walks.  I do not have a fenced yard, so we take quite a few walks throughout the day.  He's very good on the leash.

I have taken him twice to doggie day care at my vet, Sugar Hill Animal Hospital and they have fallen in love with him.  We have been working with him on his small dog journey.  He's a very exhuberant boy, wants to play but hasn't shown any sign of aggression since being with me.  We do keep his muzzle on him.  On his last visit Mary came running up to tell me that he'd been in the play yard and showed no interest in the two small dogs at all.  We also go to a near by dog park for some off leash time.  He's very good there (always muzzled, too).  He is getting a lot of socialization and enjoys it.

He likes to ride in the car too, even on the 2-hour drives we've made he settles down and is eager to go.

He has a fun-loving personality, quizzical facial expressions and always finds a way to make me laugh.

Let us know if you're interested in seeing this sweet boy for yourself.  He'd be great with an active family.

Making Progress

Hi everyone,

Remember me?  My foster Mom has been a little stingy with computer time, so I'm a little behind in keeping you up-to-date with all my activity.

We have had some exciting few weeks.  It all started at Thanksgiving.  We went for a nice long ride, my most favorite thing to do.  We went to my foster Mom's family's house 2-hours from our home.  There were 22 people at the house!  Big peope, little people and my two foster cousins, Chili and Varsity; they are wiener dogs.  Floody and I were allowed in the house once all the people had dinner.  I really wanted to play with my cousins, but they aren't used to me yet.  I didn't chase them or growl or anything thing, but they didn't want to play.  My foster Mom had me stay in my down position next to her.  Everyone came over and gave me love and commented on what a good boy I am.  I wagged my tail so they'd know I was happy.

The next day Floody had to go to the vet.  He can run really fast, but he can't stop very well in the wet grass, he hurt his toe.  My foster Mom's Dad had to go away too, so there was a lot of commotion going on around me.  I stayed calm and did what I was told.  I had to stay home by myself, which I'm not very happy about; but my foster Mom made sure I had my bed and water in the kitchen and of course, my muzzle was on.  I did my very best to make her proud of me.  When she got back I was very glad to see her and she was so happy with me!  I did not make any messes and I was still on my bed when she came in.  She and my foster grandmother gave me lots of praise and I even got a few extra treats.  I had to stay by myself a few more times and each time I was a very good boy.  Everything was okay with my foster grandfather, but he had to stay in the hospital, that's why I was by myself.

Finally, it was time to go home.  Floody had a cast on his leg and he couldn't get around very well.  I stayed close to him because he's my friend and I don't like it when he cries.  It was good to be back at our house.  We all took a nice long nap then we went for a long walk.

Guess what else?  I got to go to doggie day care!  Sugar Hill Animal Hospital has it and they welcomed me with open arms.  I really liked Andrew, my caregiver.  We played and he worked with me on my crate entry.  When my foster Mom picked me up Andrew told her all about my day.  He told her I was very good.  I didn't chase the little dogs, just played and played.  He wants me to come back because he fell for me!  I'd like to go back too, it was a lot of fun.

I am still doing well with my commands.  It makes me happy to get treats and to make my foster Mom happy.  She says I have a 'happy tail'!  And I do!  I'm a happy boy.

That's me and Floody drinking some water after one of our long walks.  We share; no one growls or pushes.  We like eachother.

Come back soon!  Better yet, ask to see me in person.  We could have so much fun.

My foster experience

Hello everyone,

My name at "home" is Indy, you know, for Indiana Jones?  I recognize that name and come running when I'm called by my foster Mom.

I have had a good time since I arrived here.  I have a big brother greyhound, Floody (isn't that a funny name?); but he's very good to me.  He lets me sleep on his bed when he's not there and shares his toys.  We get along and he's teaching me how to behave too.

My foster Mom takes me for rides, which I love and we go to the dog park near our house.  I love the dog park, I get to run and play.  I'm very good with the other dogs.  She keeps a muzzle on me, just to make sure I am safe.  I don't like it very much, but I do what I'm told.

I can do all sorts of 'tricks' like SIT, STAY, DOWN, HEEL, SHAKE; we work on my commands every day.  I'll do anything for a treat!

We also go for long walks.  We don't have a fenced yard but that doesn't keep me from going outside; I'm so good on the leash that she can walk me and Floody at the same time.

Did I tell you about the children here?  No?  There are so many!  They already loved Floody and now they love me too!  I show them my tricks, they pet me and hug me and tell me how beautiful I am.  I know not to jump on the children or to snap at them, even if they are a little rough.  They tell me I look like a tiger!  I like it when we see them.

I am learning to sleep in my crate at night.  I cry for just a little while, but since that doesn't get me anywhere I lay down and go to sleep.  I know in the morning I'll get out and we go for our first walk then I get breakfast!

My foster Mom tells me I'm a sweet boy and that makes me happy.  I'd be a sweet boy for you too!

Keep checking.  I'm sure there will be a picture of me soon, so you can see for yourself how handsome I am.
