Vet Visit and Resident Cat

I recently went to the vet to get my spay stitches removed and the resident cat came in to sniff me but wouldn't let me sniff her (I thought that was very rude of her).  I didn't really care because there were several humans who were willing to pet me, plus I kept getting on the scale until finally the vet tech checked my weight for me (once he told my foster mom I quit getting on the thing, I'm so funny I make myself laugh - lol).

I got to go with the friendly vet tech to get my stitches removed and he gave me a nice nail trim but when I came back into the waiting area I found that rude cat was sitting in the chair next to my FM and trying to get into FM's lap so I chased the feline away.

Normally, I ignore cats but that one was just too pushy and rude and trying to steal the attention away from me!

And may I say, that everyone was very impressed with how I do not jump up and stand nicely to be petted (of course, don't forget that everyone - yes, everyone - says how pretty and sweet I am)!!!

The Park and The Squirrels

Boy, did I really surprise Foster Mom (FM) yesterday!  We have been taking our daily walks around the neighborhood but FM decided I was ready to go to the park.  The park is big and full of trees, it has playgrounds for the small humans (FM calls them children), baseball fields, and walking trails through the trees.

Running all over the park were these small furry things FM calls squirrels, but I didn't care!

I was so interested in all the humans walking, jogging, pushing strollers that I kept hoping someone, anyone would stop and pet me, and they did!

I was so happy (and of course, I behaved like the lady I am - no jumping, just stood still for petting).

The only thing that would make my life perfect is to have my very own family who will love me forever!

You'd really love me too!  FM says I haven't had even one little potty accident in the house and I'm always calm and quiet.

Loving Retirement

This is the good life - if I knew being retired meant I would get to sleep on comfy pillows, get yummy treats and go for daily walks then I would have retired much sooner!  I don't know why I was afraid of those soft, fluffy pillows because they are great.

I was so good today and Foster Mommy (FM) was so proud of me - during our walk a little dog was running loose and I totally ignored him, even when he ran up behind FM and barked at her and tried to nip her ankles.  FM yelled for him to go home and I still ignored him when he took off running.  Plus there was a cat in the front yard when we got home and I ignored it, too!  I'm such a good girl (FM tells me that all the time).

FM says I'm learning how to be nice when people are eating but it's hard to not get up close for a smell - but when FM saids uh uh or no I go lay down like a lady.

Dream Come True

Mesa is really taking to life off the track - it's like being in a home and part of a family is her dream come true!

She goes to the back door to go outside and potty.  She enjoys going for walks and is very calm and relaxed inside the house.

After she has had a few days to settle in we will begin some basic obedience training.

Mesa still isn't sure what to think about those soft dog beds so she continues to nap on the floor.

1st day off the track

Mesa did very well during the car ride to the foster's home.  She is quickly learning to go to the backdoor so she can go outside to potty - she's a very smart young lady!  After just a few short hours she has settled in and has already had a few naps and is starting to play with toys.  Mesa has two big comfy dog beds which she isn't quite sure what to do with - when she stepped on one, she jumped back and looked confused and laid down on the floor next to it.  I guess she isn't used to luxury, yet!
