Tessa Has Been Sprung!

Thursday evening I had the pleasure of bringing Tessa, Duchess, ChaChi, and Holly back from Perry. Nona and Melissa had picked them up at the prison that morning andmet me at Priester's for the hand off. What a great bunch of dogs, especially Tessa who I'm fostering.

She is so adorable and lively and she loves stuffies! My goodness, she has picked up every stuffie in my house, has taken it to a different room and subsequently dropped it. She is dying to take them outside, however, we don't allow stuffies outside so I use the "drop" command before letting her out the back door!

This is my first time fostering one of the pups from the prison foster program and I have to say I am really impressed with what Tessa knows. She knows "stay", "drop", "come", "kennel up", "hurry", and a host of other commands we haven't even tried yet!! I'm looking forward to working with her a bit before she will, no doubt, be adopted by a wonderful family. She is quite a gem, as you can see from her picture here. She is the one resting her head on the back of Duchess. Isn't she adorable?

More updates to come. I must get a video of her playing with the stuffies - she is too cute!!

Training Update

Tessa is very friendly with everyone she meets and plays with all the dogs.  She even shared a bed and chew toy with one of the CCI dogs on one of their dorm visits.  Tessa is a very happy girl and will greet you with enthusiasm when you return home.

She knows all her commands and is doing an excellent job with her training.

Training Continues

Tessa is friendly, loving and fun.  She is a happy dog who enjoys going out and doing things.  She enjoys going to school with her trainer, greeting the teacher and laying on her bed while class is conducted.  Tessa loves to run on the puppy field playing with other dogs and tossing a stuffy around in the dorms.  She is very friendly and will come right to you once she is told that you're a friend.

She can do sit and here without question, go up and down the stairs, wait at the doors and kennel/bed.  She's working on down and stay at the moment.  She did beautiful on the sleepover weekend.

Training Update

Layne Doyle has a new name, it's Tessa.   Tessa is an easy going, laid back dog with a silly streak.  She knows how to make the other dorm members feel good as she greets everyone with such excitement and warmth that it makes everyone's day.  In fact, some people leave for 15 minutes just to have her greet them again!

Tessa can sit, down, heel and is working on wait and stay.  She is active and happy and doing an excellent job in her training.
