Graduation Has Arrived

Well, this is the last training blog for Ms. Macy.  Her inmate trainer says that the last 10 weeks have flown by.  She has all of her commands and extras mastered and passed her graduation test with flying colors.  She climbs the stairs without a problem and doesn’t have any problems with shiny floors.  Macy is so smart and has picked up on commands very quickly.  She’s happy to learn and it’s made training very easy with her.

Her inmate trainer says that Macy’s new forever family is about to receive a wonderful new addition who will fill their home with love.  He’s going to miss her and hopes that she has a wonderful life.

It's Time To Swap

Macy seemed to enjoy her time with an alternate inmate trainer this week for swap week!  She didn’t have any problems being away from her primary trainer and her alternate trainer says that performs her commands with a remarkable response time!  She even follows through with or without treats!

Macy’s alternate inmate trainer says that Macy is such a well-mannered sweet girl!  He truly enjoyed spending time with her this week.  She is playful and full of smiles and fun energy.  She’s ready to play with toys or have a quick run in the big hard.  She also just as happy to hang out with her human and relax.  Her alternate inmate trainer says that Macy’s forever family is getting the companion of a lifetime with this wonderful girl!

Bring Out The Treats - Bacon Flavored!

Macy is a wonderfully loving girl.  Her inmate trainer says that she is always working ot please her human and loves attention.  She does exceptionally well with the “leave it” and “give” commands during playtime.  She has requested that her inmate trainer let you know that she favors bacon flavored treat rewards.

Macy’s inmate trainer says that Macy has the softest fur and happy loving eyes.  She enjoys playing with toys.  He says that it is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with her and that she has one very lucky family waiting for her!

Happiness

It’s been another great week with Macy!  She and her inmate trainer have been working to polish up her basic commands.  She’s a little slow following through with jump and sometimes has to be told twice before completing the command.  Her inmate trainer is confident that she’ll be responding on the first request very soon.

She enjoys playing with toys and is doing great with the “give” command.  If she has a toy in her mouth she’ll release it when requested!  She’s also doing great with the “leave it” and “sit-stay” commands!  Her inmate trainer can drop a toy in front of her or throw the toy across the room telling her to “leave it” and she stays until released! Her inmate trainer is so proud of sweet Macy! He believes that she is going to make her new family very happy!

Training The New Guys

Hi, I’m Macy.  I’ve had a fun week helping train some of the new inmates in medical.  They chose me because I’m so sweet and well behaved; well that’s what I overheard my inmate trainer saying.

I do have something sad to report, I was told “no” this week.  Someone dropped food and I wanted to check it out and maybe taste it; I mean he was eating it.  Anyway as I approached the food my inmate trainer told me “no, leave it” I respected his wishes and turned around and left it alone.  It’s important that my human is happy and although I don’t understand why I couldn’t have the spoils of the fallen lunch I’m sure it was in my best interest.

I know all of my commands many with verbal and hand signal cues.  I appreciate the yummy treat reward I receive for doing these commands.  I wonder what we’ll do next week.  I’m certain it will be splendid fun.

Attention Hound or Greyhound?

This week Macy continued to polish up her basic commands.  She is progressing excellently and has even learned a new extra command “belly.”  She likes to roll on her back and have her belly rubbed so her inmate trainer started tagging the action with a command.  Her inmate trainer has tested Macy for sleep startle, separation anxiety, and food aggression and she tested well on all of them!

Macy’s personality continues to open up.  She loves to walk around the dorm and get everyone’s attention.  Her favorite time by far is playtime.  She’ll play until she falls over.  Her toy of choice is a green rubber ball.  Her inmate trainer is looking forward to the days ahead.  He can’t wait to see what Macy learns next.

Climbing Her Way To The Top

This week with Macy has been great!  She and her inmate trainer have been working to polish up all her basic commands.  She’s doing really well and usually follows through on the first or second try.  She understands the “wait” command, but needs a little more work before she’s holding a true “wait”.  Her favorite command is “down.” She always performs “down” on the first try.  She loves to have her belly rubbed so her inmate trainer has been tagging the command when she rolls on her belly.  He twirls his finger and says “belly” and she’ll over for a good belly rub.

Her inmate trainer has also been working with her on proper toy play and she will “give it” and “leave it” on command.  She’s a little slow with “leave it”, but she’s getting better every day. They also got the chance to work on stairs this week and her inmate trainer is happy to report that she didn’t have any problems going up or coming down.

Her inmate trainer says that Macy is s very smart and loving girl who is sure to make her new family very happy.

Super Sweet and Beautiful

Macy has had a very productive week!  She will now follow through with: sit, down, heel, bed and kennel!  Her inmate trainer is proud to report that Macy now sits on her own!  Now that she’s catching on to the training/treat gig she’s learning really fast.  She loves to play with toys so her inmate trainer has introduced the “leave it” command and she’s doing a good job learning to play with toys nicely.  She’ll give the toy when her trainer reaches for it and says, “give it” and will sit calmly before he drops the toy for her to play with.

Macy’s inmate trainer is enjoying his time with the sweet girl and can’t wait to see what she learns next!

One Smart Girl

This week with Macy has been very productive.  She’s getting use to her new name and environment.  Her inmate trainer says that Macy is a very friendly girl and enjoys meeting people.  She hasn’t shown any sign of aggression with any of the other dogs.

Macy is responding well to her name and the “bed” command.  Her inmate trainer says that she will lay on the bed on the first command.  She’ll stand back up after a few mins, but after a few times she’ll stay down and relax.  She’s responding slowly to “sit” but she’s making progress.  She’s already sat twice on her own without assistance!  Her inmate trainer believes that in a week she’ll have “sit” mastered.

The “down” command was also introduced this week and after one or two tries she was preforming it on her own!  Every training session is finished with a quick playtime and Macy loves her toys!  She’s very gentle while playing and will even release the toy on command.

Macy’s inmate trainer says that he is really looking forward to the coming weeks and getting to know this sweet little girl!

First Impressions

As Macy's inmate trainer states it's the beginning of another ten week session and that means he has the honor of training and bonding with another awesome Greyhound!  This time it's dear Macy, a beautiful brindle female.  Her coat is a beautiful color and her eyes - well, they are a light brown/gold color.  Just awesome!  And to boot?  She is very sweet and smart, too!

This week they've been working on acclimating Macy to the prison and to her name.  As they walk around the grounds they also work to strengthen her leash skills.  Her inmate trainer is looking forward to working with her during the weeks to come. He expects she'll learn a lot from him and he will learn a lot from her!
