Training Update 062611

"Playtime" as FWD Bold Striker has really gotten in to playing with stuffed and squeaky toys by himself or if he can find a willing person to throw a tennis ball or two. See this guy is showing just how playful and loving he is!

His training is continuing to go well as he has learned "shake" and loves that one so well that he thinks he has to shake for everything! Although he knows "sit" it's not one of his favorites maybe that's because he's been staying at different compounds and there are so many people to meet and things to do!

Training Update 061911

FWD Bold Striker now recognizes his trainers voice by waging his tail thus showing some of his special personality. Although he still hasn't caught on to playing with toys or running on the field with the other dogs he is showing progress.

Now that he's discovered who's boss he's making strides in his training. He has worked extra hard on the "SIT" command and has gone from lazy to proud as to how he does it. Every now and then he'll be staring into space instead of concentrating but with a soft hand and verbal command it's back to work. He's still a bit stubborn about some things but he is one fine dog!

Training Update - 061311

His trainer says Sylus has adjusted very well to his new environment in the dorm and at school.  He loves to walk around the compound with her.  He really likes to explore and sniff all the flowers.  He’s friendly with staff members and officers and loves attention, period.

Sylus can be stubborn and hard headed sometimes. This week Sylus was learning who the top dog is. He had been thinking it was him,  but his trainer convinced him that the position is hers.

This week Sylus went to boot camp to work on the sit command.  They focused solely on this command.  He is now sitting on his own but prefers to sit on a blanket. All in all he is responding well to his commands. His trainer plans to spend a lot of time working on obedience training.  She thinks that will help to lessen his stubbornness.

She says Sylus is a great boy and she is enjoying watching him develop into a wonderful obedient pet.

Training Update - 060511

Fwd Bold Striker is adjusting well to the facility after his retirement from the track and has already gotten down the feeding schedule.  After an active racing life he has turned into a very calm, laid back guy who just likes to hang out.  He seems to be very passive with other dogs, even with toys or if they get in his space.

Bold Striker has started his training, working on his getting used to his new name as well as "wait and here" although he can be a bit stubborn. He loves attention and affection from anyone he can find (inmates and staff). Being the brave and curious dog that he is, he doesn't let the noise levels bother him at all. Though he sometimes gets startled when sleeping he is adjusting well. His trainer is working on trust with him and he has taken kibble from her hand but still tries to avoid eye contact!
