Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 8:21AM Four Bits, nka Zeus, was adopted by his foster family and is now living a nice retired life in Powder Springs with Anka and Amanda and his humans. He is learning tricks and manners and is doing really well, I hear. Zeus, we hope to see you guys soon at a Meet & Greet or perhaps an upcoming Event! Stay cool, you handsome boy!
Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 9:57PM Today Four Bits really showed off at the Meet & Greet at Top Dogs in Kennesaw. I think everyone wanted to take him home with them! When we got ready to leave the house I tried coaxing him into the crate in my SUV and he was very unsure about jumping in. After several attempts and bribes with treats I ended up helping him in front first then bringing up the rear (so to speak). We went for a bite to eat after the M&G and again, he just didn't quite want to jump in. At 75 lbs. it was no easy feat for me to get him in especially after picking up my 11 yo, Amanda who will NOT jump in. Well, the 3rd time was the charm. After having lunch when we got ready to leave and load into the car, with just a little encouragement he jumped right in! He is a fast learner and is progressing right along with each new thing he learns.
He has learned to lay down on his bed and now waits patiently for his breakfast/dinner while I feed my 2 GH's first. In a short 2 weeks he is learning quickly. He loves playing with his toys and is learning to give them up when asked. He is a sweet, sweet boy who loves to be the center of attention.
Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:25AM Yesterday we picked Four Bits up from Patti's and brought him home. He did very well and didn't even seem to notice having his ears cleaned - he slept right through it! He loves playing with toys and watching what goes on out the window. Maybe we'll go for a walk today so he can get familiar with the neighborhood. He is getting along well with our 2 female greyhounds and cat.

On Monday we took Four Bits for a walk around the neighborhood with our 2 female GH's. He walked beautifully on the leash and didn't notice any barking dogs we passed and loved getting out and about. Last night he slept quietly in his crate beside the girls without a peep. He is settling into our pack and home life nicely. He still needs some work on his table manners as he likes to eat really quickly so we're working with him on learning to wait for his food. He is patient and calm trying to understand this new way of life away from the track. Today is is first day alone while I'm at work. We'll see how he does.

Last night Four Bits and my cat, Pouncer decided to check each other out for the first time. They gave each other a good sniff through the baby gate and after a few seconds he decided the cat really wasn't that interesting and walked away. He is definitely much more interested in a squeaky toy than the cat!
He did great while I was gone to work yesterday and today, no accidents or other issues. He seems to like his crate and goes right in with no problem. He also seems to be getting the hang of the 'down' command to lay on his bed. He is also learning 'wait' to wait for his food. He is a smart boy and a fast learner.
