Final Goodbyes

This is the final week of training for Lucky.  His inmate trainer states it has been a very interesting and rewarding journey working with Lucky these last 10 weeks. They overcame many challenges from the very beginning.  Lucky persevered demonstrating his sweet, loving, and attentive personality which allow his inmate trainer and Lucky to overcome all obstacles and meet and exceed all challenges.

In just the last week Lucky has learned the "sit" command.  He can also do "down", without fail.  He does know a couple of extra commands - "kiss" and "show me love".  But sometimes he gets a little too excited to remember exactly what it is you are asking him to do.

Of course his "jump" is actually more of a climb. But he can do it!

His inmate trainer is very happy and proud of how far Lucky has come during his training.  He knows this foundation will help him succeed in his next journey - full retirement!!  You go Lucky!

Gaining Knowledge

Lucky has been working on the “leave it’ command.  He knows the command, but sometimes his desire for food will override his training.  His inmate trainer has started working on the “down” command.  His inmate trainer is proud to report that Lucky’s progress has grown by leaps and bounds.  He just needs a little fine-tuning and his inmate trainer believes that staying consistent in the weeks to come will do the trick.

Lucky also enjoys playing with his chew toys.  He loves attention and affection.  His inmate trainer says that Lucky’s forever family is sure to fall in love with this great boy!

"Show Me Love"

Lucky is getting stronger every day!  He will "jump" up on low objects.  His inmate trainer is going to give him another week before working on "sit" and "down".  He doesn't want Lucky to do too much too soon.  He is doing great with all of the other basic commands.  He is also learning a couple extras; "kisses" and "show me love".

Lucky has gotten much better about being calm when it is feeding time.  He will "wait" to eat and he will not take any food from your hand until you tell him "ok".  He's one smart cookie!

Lucky has also improved considerably with sharing and giving up toys.  You couldn't ask for a better Greyhound than Lucky.  He's such a lovable boy!

One Greyt Guy

Lucky is doing great!  He is learning to play with his share of toys.  His inmate trainer says that Lucky can be a little possessive at times so they’re working on sharing.  He’s extremely smart and learning quickly and knows the wait, heel, here, and bed commands really well.  They’re holding off on the sit and down commands a little longer just to make sure his leg is ready.  His inmate trainer is not worried about the delay and knows that Lucky will catch on without a problem.

His inmate trainer is very proud of the progress Lucky has made and believes that Lucky is going to make some family very happy!

Tremendous Progress

Lucky has made tremendous progress this past week with building up his strength and muscles.  So much that his trainers are going to begin working on "sit" and "down" in the next few days.  Lucky is so smart that his inmate trainer is confident he will have a pretty good idea of what is expected of him.  He is doing very well with "hurry", "let's go", "wait", "heel", "here", "stay" and "bed".

Today was bath time for Lucky.  He seemed like he enjoyed the warm water, or could it be all of the attention he received?  Lucky is such a sweet dog and will let you do just about anything, as long as he's getting attention.  He's pretty sure that he is everybody's favorite.  They all have to stop and take a few minutes to pet and love on him.  And of course, Lucky just eats it up!

Toy Expert

Lucky's inmate trainers spent the last week helping him improve on some of the basic commands like "kennel", "release", "sit", "down" and "jump".  He is doing great with "hurry", "let's go", "wait", "heel", "here", "stay" and "bed".  Lucky is also learning to play with toys. There was not a toy left in the pod that Lucky did not try out.  He definitely had fun playing with them.

Lucky has been getting walked quite often to help him build his muscles back up, and he is getting stronger every day.  He loves his walks, meeting and greeting everyone on the way.  No one is a stranger to Lucky.  It is almost impossible to describe just how happy and loving Lucky really is.  That is something that has to be seen in person to believe.

Stay tuned for more during the coming weeks!

Never Met A Stranger

Lucky is probably one of the most loving dogs his inmate trainer has ever seen.  He doesn't think Lucky has met a stranger in his whole life.   All he wants to do is to be loved on and petted.  It is virtually impossible to walk by him and not give him some kind of attention.  He knows what retirement is all about!

Lucky still gets very excited during feeding time.  His trainers are working hard to keep him calm and feel they are making progress with this silly boy.  They are having him "stay" and "wait"  before he can eat his food.

Lucky is a smart greyhound and is eager to please.  He knows most of his basic commands well, and his inmate trainer knows that once he is healed, his training will progress at record speed.

Adorably Happy

After spending three weeks with Lucky his inmate trainer has decided that Lucky is an adorable overgrown puppy!  He’s sweet, loving, and a lot of fun.  All he really wants to do is play and eat… eating is always a great option.  He gets excited at meal times so his inmate trainer has been working with him so that he remains calm before food is served.  His facial expressions during meal time are very amusing.   The look of anticipation is priceless.

Lucky is a smart guy who learns quickly.  His inmate trainer says that he can’t wait to start working with him on the more challenging commands such as:  sit, down, jump and stairs!

One Silly Boy!

The second week with Lucky has proved to be interesting, his inmate trainer said.  Lucky is an extremely loving dog that has opened up even more in the past week.  He has become more playful and is really funny to watch.  His inmate trainer said you can look at his face and just know that he is about to do something silly.

Lucky and his trainer have been taking things slow and have been doing a lot of leash walking.  He has learned to walk on a leash, "heel", "wait", "here" and "stay".  "Bed" and "kennel" are a work in progress.  Everyday is a little better with Lucky.  His inmate trainer is pretty sure there is going to be a ton of laughs ahead with this funny guy!

Happy Go Lucky Boy!

After observing Big Playboy for a couple of days, his inmate trainer has decided to call him Lucky, because of his "happy go lucky" attitude.  He acts as though he could go through anything and all he wants out of life is to be loved.  Lucky is an extremely happy greyhound with a tail that wags all the time.  He is very curious and loves to please.

In just a few short days, Lucky has learned the basic concept of "here", "wait", "hurry" and walking on a leash.  His trainer believes that it is going to be a fun and interesting session with Lucky and he's looking forward to the time that they will spend together.
