Wonder Dog Graduation

Training has come to an end and it’s time for Jackson’s inmate trainer to say Goodbye.  They have spent this last week enjoying life and pondering how all good things must come to an end.  His inmate trainer says that they all owe Jackson a great deal for all of the smiles and laughter he has brought to them.  His trainer says that Jackson has turned out to be a true Wonder Dog!

Jackson passed his basic exam and his AKC Good Citizen practice test!  They celebrated by breaking out the peanut butter and packing it and some kibble into a Kong toy.  Ahhhh, the sweet spoils of victory!

Jackson’s inmate trainer says that Jackson will be truly missed, but never forgotten.  His trainer says that he feels himself becoming more appreciative of the unconditional love that these dogs so freely give.

One Amazing Boy

This week Jackson spent time impressing his alternate inmate trainer during swap week!  His alternate handler says it was a great adventure working with this wonderful dog! Jackson is eager to please his trainer and loves to do his commands (and eat treats).  His alternate trainer says that it’s almost as if Jackson has a switch that he turns on and off while training.  Once minute he’s relaxed then he receives a rewarded for doing his command and he kicks into Mr. Excited.

Jackson loves to perform all of his extra commands as well as his basic commands.  He enjoys walking on a leash and has very nice leash manners.  He also has an excellent attitude towards humans!  His alternate handler says that Jackson is an amazing boy who’s going to make his new family very happy!

Cool And Laid Back

There’s never a dull moment with happy, silly, Jackson!  His inmate trainer has recently discovered that Jackson enjoys a good game of tug-a-war!  He loves to win and will prance around showing off his prize after the victory!

This week they have been practicing for the Canine Good Citizen test.  His inmate trainer knows that Jackson will pass since he loves to perform with our without treats!

His inmate trainer says that Jackson is cool and laid back like James Dean, but likes to make people smile by being silly like Jim Carrey.  With graduation approaching he knows that he’ll miss this sweet goofy guy.

Spunky

Jackson loves to learn new things!  His inmate trainer says that when he grabs the leash and treat bag Jackson lights up with sheer happiness! His trainer says that Jackson reminds him of the Gandhi quote; “Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever.”

Training is going well!  So well in fact that his inmate trainer is preparing Jackson for the AKC Good Citizen test on the chance that his future owners decide to complete this exam with him.  His trainer has decided to drop the whisper command from the list.  He says that Jackson loves to speak, but not so much in a whisper.  He has replaced this command with bounce.  When you say bounce and give Jackson two thumbs up that he will jump in the air.  His inmate trainer says this command totally fits his happy spunky attitude.

With only three weeks left his inmate trainer knows he’s going to miss this amazing guy.  He says that Jackson is pretty close to perfect in his book.  He’s a happy, loving, boy who also has a big helping of goofiness to make you smile.

Happy Boy

Andrew is one of the happiest dogs his inmate trainer has ever had the pleasure to meet.  When he’s in the big yard playing Andrew runs up to his inmate trainer with his head held high, mouth wide open, and a big grin on his face.  His trainer says you can feel the happiness radiating from Andrew.

Andrew does his basics with no problem and is currently working to fine tune his extra commands.  Andrew has a short attention span so to counter this his inmate trainer introduces new things to keep learning fun.  This week spin and rollover were added to his list of commands.  His trainer says that he will rollover three times then go into full clown mode acting completely silly.

Andrew knows all of his basic commands and if you’re sitting down we’ll go over his list of extra commands….  Ready?  He knows kiss, sloppy kiss, speak, bow, take it, drop it, shake, pick up toys, whisper, fist bump, spin and rollover!  Shew, he's one smart guy!

His inmate trainer hopes that Andrew will find a forever home filled with happiness.

The Sky Is The Limit

Jackson can go from total hound to goofy clown in the blink of an eye.  His inmate trainer says that when Jackson gets wound up and someone new comes into the play session Jackson will howl at them.  His trainer is trying to mark this as a sing command that he’ll do on cue.

Jackson continues to amaze everyone by picking up his toys and placing them in the toy bin, but after all one would expect such a distinguished gentleman like Andrew Jackson to clean up after himself.

Training is going great!  Both Jackson and his inmate trainer love and look forward to it every day.  They have added whisper, fist bump and shake to their list of commands this week.  His trainer says the sky is the limit with this amazing dog.  He says that he would not be surprised to see a video on YouTube of Jackson mowing the lawn one warm spring day while his owners relax in the shade sipping cool beverages.

Jackson’s inmate trainer says it’s easy to love this happy sweet guy who keeps them smiling daily.

Fast Progress

Jackson has been busy making his inmate trainer proud! He has most all of his basic commands down to a science.  His inmate trainer has been working to teach Jackson to pick up his toys and place them in the toy box!  After a few days of work he had it figured out!  His inmate trainer says that he doesn’t know who was more excited him or Jackson! When Jackson discovered that putting toys in the toy box scored him a treat he was pretty thrilled with the whole idea himself!

His inmate trainer is still bathing Jackson three times a week to help clear up the hot spots, but they’re almost gone!

Jackson is a laid back guy who’s smart and willing to learn anything you want to teach him.  His inmate trainer says that Jackson is a super fun dog and training is a blast with him!

Mr. Happy

This week Jackson has totally transformed for a quiet guy to Mr. Happy!  He's even starting showing an interest in toys.  His basic commands are coming along great.  He sits well, but prefers to side sit most of the time.  His inmate trainer says that Jackson is the slowest Greyhound he's ever seen but is happy running.  He does all of his commands already, but it may be another week before he has them down pat.  Jackson will give great kisses on command but if you tell him "sloppy kiss" he's more than happy to lay a sloppy lick on your cheek!  He speaks on command and can do a great Roo.  Jackson loves to learn new things which makes training much easier.  His inmate trainer says that Jackson is an amazing wonderful dog!

Smart And Happy

Jackson and his inmate trainer have had a lot of fun this week!  Jackson seems comfortable in his new environment.  In fact, he’s so comfortable that during inspection while the dogs and trainers stand in line for the Warden Jackson decided to lay down and take a nap!

Jackson has a laid back personality which makes for easy leash training.  He does great with heel and this week they started working on sit, down, and kiss.   He picked up sit in two sessions! He hasn’t started playing with toys yet as he’d rather sniff and explore than waste time with some ole squeaky toy.

Jackson’s inmate trainer believes that Jackson is on his way to the top of the class!  He’s looking forward to working with Jackson in the days to come!

Entering The Program

Jackson's inmate trainer says that this boy has the absolute cutest face in the history of cute faces!  He holds his ears up a lot which just adds to his cuteness.

When Jackson first arrived he was a little underweight and a little rough around the edges.  Nothing a good scrubbing and some yummy kibble can't fix!  His inmate trainer says that he's looking better already.... and has such a cute face!

It's only been three days, but his inmate trainer believes that Jackson is going to be a top performer!  In just a few days Jackson has already started grasping the heel and wait commands!  Jackson has no problems with his inmate trainer handling his food bowl while he's eating.  He is doing well around the other dogs and appears to have a calm laid back personality.

Jackson's inmate trainer is looking forward to watching Jackson's full personality emerge.  And did he say he has a cute face?
